Understanding Presbyopia
Presbyopia is a common condition that affects nearly everyone as they age, typically beginning in the 40s and progressing into the 60s. This condition decreases the eye’s natural lens flexibility, making close-up tasks, such as reading or using smartphones, difficult. Symptoms may include eyestrain and headaches.
Although Presbyopia cannot be cured, it can be effectively treated. Options include glasses, contact lenses, or refractive surgery. Possible surgical options include monovision (blended vision) or a refractive lens exchange using advanced intraocular lenses like the PanOptix lens, Vivity, or Light Adjustable Lens.
Additionally, newly approved eye drops for Presbyopic correction may also be appropriate for some patients. Our knowledgeable staff will discuss the best treatment options tailored for you during your consultation.
